Spain's IKERLAN-IK4 Utilizes BigLever's Software Product Line Framework for the Development of Innovative Alternative Energy Technologies

AUSTIN, TX – March 30, 2009 – BigLever Software™, an industry-leading provider of software product line (SPL) development tools, framework and services, today announced that IKERLAN-IK4, a research and development organization for mechatronic and energetic products, has selected Biglever’s Gears SPL Lifecycle Framework to develop leading-edge product lines for its alternative energy clients in Spain.

“At IKERLAN-IK4, our goal is to bring new levels of creativity and innovation to the development of processes, technologies and products for a wide range of industrial clients. With BigLever’s SPL solution, we are exploring advanced, yet pragmatic, new approaches for allowing our clients to efficiently create, evolve and maintain their product lines", said Salvador Trujillo. “In our first project with BigLever, we expect to significantly reduce product line development time and costs, allowing important alternative energy products to be available worldwide faster and more efficiently.”

IKERLAN-IK4 joins a growing number of organizations in multiple industries that are relying on BigLever’s SPL solution to vastly improve product line development metrics such as productivity, time-to-market, product quality, and portfolio scalability. The company’s growing global customer base covers a wide spectrum of industry sectors including aerospace and defense, medical, hardware and software, electronics and online applications.

“Innovative companies such as IKERLAN_IK4 are at the forefront of a paradigm shift toward SPL engineering,” said Charles Krueger, BigLever’s chief executive officer. “As product line organizations are increasingly challenged to do more with less – and development complexity grows rapidly with the addition of each new product – companies are finding that traditional development tools and methods are inadequate. We are very excited to help IKERLAN_IK4 better serve its clientele through the quick and efficient creation and delivery of new alternative energy product lines.”

The IKERLAN-IK4 Technology research centre is a private non-profit making entity with a public service vocation, created in 1974 at the initiative of a group of companies and entities which today form part of the Mondragón Corporación Cooperativa.
