LSI Logic Receives Recognition by the Software Product Line Community

AUSTIN, Texas - August 28, 2006 - BigLever Software™, a leading provider of software product line development tools and services, today announced that its customer, LSI Logic, was inducted into the Software Product Line Hall of Fame at the 10th International Software Product Line Conference (SPLC 2006). Using BigLever's Gears solution, the Engenio Storage Group division of LSI Logic has established one of the industry's most notable software product line successes, which was acknowledged at the conference as an example of excellence and highest achievement in the field.

SPLC 2006, sponsored by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI), is the leading forum for software product line practitioners and researchers. The Hall of Fall was created to recognize distinguished members of the community and to improve software product line practice by spotlighting the best examples in the field. Companies elected for membership in the Hall of Fame serve as a model for what can be achieved with software product line development technologies. Previous Hall of Fame inductees include BigLever customer Salion (2004 inductee), a provider of revenue acquisition management systems.

“We greatly appreciate being acknowledged by the industry for our software product line accomplishments,” said Ann Martin, director of firmware development, Engenio Storage Group, LSI Logic. “With BigLever's solution and ongoing support, we've established a leading-edge software product line practice that enables us to create, evolve and maintain a differentiated product line to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers.” LSI designs and manufactures high performance modular enterprise storage platforms and storage management software that is delivered to end users through strategic partners including IBM, SGI, and Teradata.

“Being inducted into the Software Product Line Hall of Fame is a well-deserved honor for LSI,” said Charlie Krueger, BigLever Software CEO. “In our engagement with LSI, we've had the opportunity to work with one of the industry's most talented development organizations – and to see our Gears technology become the foundation for a major software product line success story. This is a very rewarding experience for BigLever.”
