BigLever Software Achieves 'Ready for IBM Rational Software' Validation for the IBM Rational Quality Manager / BigLever Software Gears Bridge 2.0 Solution

Working in tandem with IBM Rational Quality Manager, the BigLever Bridge Solution
enhances verification and validation capabilities to support product line diversity, consistently with other phases of the lifecycle

AUSTIN, TX – June 6, 2011 – BigLever Software™, the leading provider of systems and software product line (SPL) engineering framework, tools and services, announced today that the company has successfully completed 'Ready for IBM Rational Software' technical validation for its Rational Quality Manager / BigLever Gears Bridge 2.0 solution. By integrating IBM's Jazz-based Rational Quality Manager into BigLever's SPL Lifecycle Framework, this solution enables product line engineering organizations to bring quality assurance (QA) to complementary status with specification, design and implementation – as a strategic element of the SPL development lifecycle.

With the major productivity gains delivered by SPL approaches, it is essential that companies address the QA end of the lifecycle in tandem with design and development. Otherwise, the development bottleneck is simply moved downstream to QA. By putting testing, verification and validation 'on par' with other elements of the lifecycle, the Rational Quality Manager/Gears Bridge eliminates bottlenecks and allows companies to realize the full spectrum of benefits provided by SPL engineering. The 2.0 version of this bridge solution offers usability and integration enhancements for supporting IBM's new Rational Quality Manager V3.0.1.

"Working in concert with the IBM Rational solution for systems and software engineering, the BigLever SPL Framework provides a consistent and integrated approach that extends the ability of our mutual customers to effectively manage product line diversity throughout each lifecycle stage," said Michael Loria, vice president, IBM Rational Business Development. "This approach is epitomized by the integration of Rational Quality Manager into the BigLever Framework, which allows test case diversity to be defined and managed according to the product features within a product line."

"With the new Rational Quality Manager release, IBM continues to strengthen the impact of the Jazz-based lifecycle solutions with the essential capabilities companies need to achieve new levels of test management and quality assurance," said Charles Krueger, BigLever CEO. "By marrying IBM's application lifecycle approach with BigLever's SPL Lifecycle Framework, BigLever is enabling development teams to much more efficiently and effectively meet product line delivery objectives, which can ultimately result in greater profitability for the business."
